Hi guys!

My first time on here. Any tips and suggestions to get started? Should I follow a low carb diet with high protein? And low intensity cardio? I've been basically living a pretty sedentary lifestyle at my office job and my coworkers have said I looked better when I was thinner. So I have resolved myself with the turn of the New Year to really make some changes. I have no idea what I'm doing. Getting to know some of you will likely give me the motivation to keep going. Thanks for reading.

Nice to meet you all!

It's scary, isn't it? I always have trouble reaching out. I'm just starting again - after a few failed attempts. I'm not sure that I'm the best to be giving advice - Here's what I'm going to do - one day at a time. That's it. Just one day - then the next - then the - well, you get the picture. If I can do better today than I did yesterday I'll consider it a win. I'm leaving now to go for a walk. I didn't do that yesterday - so that's something. Good luck to you. Remember - you are stronger than you think.

Just make sure any changes you’re doing, you’re doing for yourself. As far as excercise goes, you should try different things to see what you like and what you’re good at. It’s easier to stay on track doing an excercise you enjoy. As far as diet goes just focus on portion control and make sure protein makes up a good part of your diet.

Find a way to eat fewer calories, and move more if you can. ALL weight loss methods work via calorie deficit.

Try to make some dietary/activity changes permanent, so you have the tools to keep your weight in check (after you are done dieting).

I've lost weight doing low carb and then regained it back. Why? Because low carb was a temporary change. I had no intention of keeping low carb days as part of my maintenance plan.

So now I eat foods I like.....but measure portions. I'm fat because of portions.....not carbs. I move more; nothing too drastic. Just what I am willing to do forever. Keep looking for activities, exercises, team sports, etc. Find something you like to do.
