I am only physically attracted to someone if I get to know them and my brain agrees. So I guess I am attracted to certain personalities vs physical attributes. Not to be confused with finding someone aesthetically pleasing, like a work of art, structure or nature. I find very few people actually physically attractive.. maybe one celebrity (who I know a lot about and admire his brilliance, work and talent) and my husband.

So.... if I was funny and smart you would be attracted to me even if I was so ugly I could be a modern art masterpiece?

    Love doesn't have a type.

Attraction does. You don't just love someone the moment you meet them, unless it's Disney. You go for what you like in a person, that's your type.

    Look at this party pooper

So by misusing a meme you are being nice? You didn't answer my question, just avoided it. If someone, it doesn't have to be me, is smart and funny but ugly, would you be attracted to said person?

What is your definition of ugly? Maybe they wouldn't be ugly to me. Who knows. But generally no. I am not attracted to many people.

Ugly could be anything. Someone who has no teeth and warts all over his face but was the funniest, kindest, smartest person you knew, you would be attracted to said person?

I agree a connection is important though. I’m a strong 5-6 when I comb my hair which is almost never. Men generally don’t give me a glance on the street. But I think if someone gets to know me first and THEN sees me, it’s like a ‘whew, okay, we can work with this’. :smirk:

In other words, connection can and does enhance attraction.

    Love doesn't have a type.

Attraction does. You don't just love someone the moment you meet them, unless it's Disney. You go for what you like in a person, that's your type.

Yeah... but I was talking love, not attraction. The OPs original statement/question was about love being hormonal. I'd say, 'No' ....attraction, lust....yeah. Love is so much more. If you think love can be narrowed down to type... I feel bad for you.

You guys are full of it. Beauty standards are universal. Even an infant, regardless of where or to whom it was born, knows the difference between a good looking person versus someone who isn't.

Symmetrical and evenly proportionate facial features, symmetrical and evenly proportionate body construction, waist to hip ratios, shoulder to hip ratios, the width between the eyes, the set of the jaw and width of the jawline, the width and height of cheekbones, nose size proportionate to the other facial features - these are all universally recognizable measurements of beauty, to both the trained and untrained eye alike, crossing all cultural barriers and applicable to all ages and eras of human history.
