Wrists hurt after treadmill

I'm working from a 5K Training app and after 30 min of jogging/vigorous walking my wrists are KILLING me. I don't keep a tight fist, but I don't leave my wrists limp either. Any pointers? I don't want to have to wear wrists braces while running.

Stop walking on your hands?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
It's not the same problem but my wife has to consciously relax her upper body when she rides her bike. If not she ends up using half her energy keeping her upper body rigid and then get's off looking all twisted.
I often find myself pinching my shoulder blades together when I walk, especially when it's cold. I've found if I do occasional shoulder shrugs while I walk I don't have as much a problem.
Neither of those is your problem but I wonder if you did some low-key upper body movements with your arms it would help? You might not have to do them constantly, just every five minutes or so do a swimming motion or perhaps some dumbbell curl motions or whatever feels good.
Also if you've just started running and have not run before it might be a temporary problem? We can hope...

Interesting, my wrists are also bothering me since running. I am newbie to running, and just finishing a Learn2Run program and will be running a 5K soon. Wasn't sure what was causing it.0

A few times during my run I'll drop my arms and hands to my side just to help me relax. Do you bend your wrists while running? I've seen a few people do this. They pump their arms but I see that they have their wrists bent or almost flexed. I'm sure they don't even realize that they're doing it.0

Just an idea but you should try to keep your hands somewhat open when running, not fists I keep mine in a relaxed C shape with fingers slightly apart. You are probably making really tight fists and not noticing.
Hope this helps!0 -
Thanks everyone!
I try to consciously relax my upper body, and I'm definitely not tightning my fists. just a loose fist shape (if that makes sense!).
I'll try the Aleve, maybe prior to my excercise because it generally starts hurting while I'm running and continues afterwards. I've asked everyone I know that runs and nobody else has this problem. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I don't want it to deter me from running.0 -

Tried a shot of tequila last night... Didn't help. Maybe I'lll try two tonight!0 -
I think you want to be careful about taking too many pain relievers for exercise induced pain...especially taking it prior to exercise. Pain killers can mask pain, but they won't prevent injury.

I think it would be better to try moving your arms around more...putting them down some, up some, etc. Is there any chance this is a carpal tunnel sort of thing? That you are flexing them repeatedly in some way? Or maybe something pre-existing? I would say that if it lasts more than a few more days you might want to see a doctor. If you actually do have an injury, wrist braces might be what it takes to get over it.0 -
You might be tensing more than you realise. A good tip I know is to imagine you are holding a crisp between your fingers and your thumbs, don't squish that crisp!0
