There is a reason that when things go wrong people often respond with "Well, at least you have your health". Think about what that means. Our society has realized that having your health is more valuable than almost anything else. It is a key factor is the calculation of happiness. Our society has also realized that the things that are most important and valuable don't usually come easily. They are obtained through hard work, sacrifice, diligence. The most valuable things come from giving it your best almost everyday, being committed to success. Your health is as valuable as gold - it is true wealth.

Not to be a pessimist, but people only say that to you when you have absolutely nothing else good going on in your life. Usually after a ton of bad stuff has happened. I don't think the phrase is so much valuing health as it is slightly nicer than saying "sucks to be you."0

The reason this came up for me today was finding out that my friend who is having some success in losing weight is on the HCG diet. Another one is on Adkins. It is frustrating to see them trying to find a way to "cheat the system" in a way that can be unhealthy. I have seen some people do Adkins in a healthy way - but then it looks more like South Beach. I have seen people with success on HCG and then gain the weight back sooo quickly when the shots stop. I have no idea what the long term effects of HCG will be - but my guess is that anything that tricks your body into shedding pounds quickly and requires eating at a calorie limit that is well below 1000 per day cannot be good.
I understand their search for a cheat - I hate how long this journey to health and fitness is taking. I am 19 months into it and only 48 pounds down. On the other hand, it will never be over. As soon as I reach my goal I will have to do on the day after I reach my goal the same thing I did the days, weeks and years before I reached it.0 -

Ironically someone just posted this about the HCG diet ---
"The first round my mom did of HCG, she had to be taken to the hospital for severe vertigo, loss of vision, nausea. It was a 2 day stay for her to get her vision back and for her to be able to stand without falling over. Last year, after gaining back what she lost the first round (shocker) my mom was feeling very faint and was diagnosed with high blood pressure and is now on medication. She is now on round 3 and is now having energy problems. She's started paying me to clear her house because she doesn't have the energy and is now wearing braces on her wrists because they hurt and she struggles to lift even a glass of water. "
Does anyone have any experience on HCG?0
