Diuretics

Currently I am on a diuretic prescribed by my doctor- it's a mild one (forgot the name, still kind of new to me) believe it or not it's to help with my glaucoma of all things! Well anyways, my concern is that I'll get hooked- not necessarily a chemical dependency but a psychological one- I know how diuretics can "help" lose water weight, I just don't wanna get hooked like "oh I need it so I'll be skinny!!!"
I was wondering what people's experiences were with diuretics, prescription or not- can you get hooked on them?

I used to take a diuretic for my blood pressure...I was not "hooked"...they aren't narcotics. I was taken off mine due to a couple gout flares that we ultimately attributed to the diuretic.0

My husband takes diuretics for hypertension. He is not skinny or hooked, though he is very free with the salt because of them.1

I also used to be on one for my hypertension. Doc removed it when I lost weight and my pressure decreased. Going off it was not bad but I did see a little bump up in my weight for a few weeks. If you need it to protect your eyes I would take it and not worry about it. Your vision is irreplaceable.1

I'm also on them for hypertension. I never thought about being hooked on them.0
