Hi. I have been overweight since I was about 8 yrs old. I love food but its the unhealthy kind. I've tried to diet and exercise many times but I always fall back into the same habits. Im very, very picky and I don't really like any fruit or vegetables.more veggies than fruit though. I have some health issues fighting against me like PCOS and Im on the verge of being diabetic (says my dr) I need people to push me, be supportive and hold me accountable. I need this not just for me but my kids and family as well. I do not know how to count calories or meal prep. I have a family of 6 so making 2 separate meals is a lot. Idk. I feel defeated and I haven't even started. Any positive support is welcome! Thank you.

Welcome to MFP. Try starting with just logging your food. Don't change anything right away, just log your food and commit to being honest with yourself. You'll eventually find yourself making small changes just so you aren't in the 'red' here on MFP. That's how I started and I eventually lost nearly 70 pounds and have kept the weight off for years. You CAN do this. :flowerforyou:1

I have a family of 6 (with one gone back to college yesterday). I don't cook two meals for dinner. I have a lot of food allergies, so I have to be a picky eater. I could probably make some suggestions for small changes. What do you like to eat?0

No foods are healthy or unhealthy - you weigh too much because you are eating too many calories over time. It is true that certain foods are more calorie dense and easier to eat and overeat, but that doesn't make them unhealthy, it just means that you have to be more careful around them.
You can eat appropriate amounts and still love food - you'll actually, probably, experience more enjoyment when you don't overeat, when you wait for a good meal, when you're good and hungry before you eat, when you're more selective, when you aren't worried if you're eating too much or the "wrong" foods.
If you want to lose weight, you have to eat less. You don't have to eat anything in particular or cut out anything in particular. You don't have to exercise. It's really simple. But you can't just try. You have to eat less for real, consistently, and forever.
This means that you have to change your habits into other habits that you like, but don't keep you overweight. This takes a lot of work, most of all on your mindset. This is work only you can do. And you are only accountable to yourself. Feeling capable is going to do a lot for your self-esteem and your general wellbeing, and your ability to stick to better eating habits.
MFP both sets and counts your calories for you - you have to weigh your food, pick correct entries, log the correct amount, remember to log everything that has calories, and hit your calorie goal every day.
You don't have to meal prep. Don't make separate meals. Eat the same things, together, as a family. You can eat more or less of the individual components of the meal.0
