Conversion Confusion

Hi all,
I had my first weigh in today!
In the UK we use Stones more than just pure lbs.
My inital weight was 19.0 stone which I converted to be 266lbs.
Today my weight was 18 stone 8.7 lbs = which I thought meant I had lost 5lbs seeing as there is 14lbs per stone.
However, when converted that only equals 263.2 lbs which is a 3lb loss.
Am I confusing myself? I have no idea how much I have actually lost now because I'm not familiar with the system of lbs.
I know I have misunderstood somewhere, and I appreciate this is a basic sum that I'm somehow getting confused.

You can check your weight in in stones and lbs, that's what I always use.
On the web version click home
Then along the top click settings
Down the left hand side click update diet/fitness profile
You'll see highlighted in blue change units
Click that and change to stone and lbs.1 -
Stones confuse me more than pounds or kilos, but I'll give it a go.
19 x 14 = 266 pounds. You got that one right.
18 x 14 = 252 pounds + 8.7 pounds = 260.7 pounds
Your loss is 5.3 pounds. YAY!
What method did you use to convert?1 -
Yes you are confusing yourself - it's trying to include the decimal parts of pounds which is messing up your conversion - just call it 18 stone 9lbs which equals 261lbs, a five pound loss.2

Thank you! I would usually just use stone, lbs but as I am doing a challenge that has been set up using lbs.
That was actually why I noticed the difference because I thought I'd lost 5lbs and now I think I've only lost 3lbs....
My only concern now is that if one is slightly different than the other (though I cannot understand why that would be the case) then I will become a bit deflated with different results.0 -
Thank you so much!
I'm such an idiot. I was typing 18.9 into a conversion calculator and it came up with 263.2. As you say I must have been confusing the decimal point.
Thanks for the help guys. I get a little confused with the conversions obviously!!!! I'll stick with the above methods.4 -
