Shoe problem

I wear some nikes for training. I really like them because they are the first pair that i can wear for almost anything. Before doing 50 wall balls i would have to take my shoes off because my arch would hurt, same with things like snatches. But these are awesome.

But now i have a new problem. During heavy lifts the front of my foot like my toes go all tingling, like my feet are falling asleep. This morning i took them off and continued barefoot to max for snatches and it immediately went away.

Anyone have this kind of problem?

Look at different ways of tying your laces. Runners know different methods. There are some methods that spare the first few holes (those closest to your toes).

For strength training, I'd strongly encourage you go with some hard sole/minimalist Zero drop shoes like Chucks or Vibrams.

IF your gym lets you go barefoot.. No reason not to if you're comfortable with it.

They really don't feel tight. And the way the material is it kind of molds with my foot which is why i like them So much.

I don't tie the laces tight since my coach mentioned that might contribute to my arch hurting. I'll try skipping some of the holes.

Chucks hurt my arch too :(

Thanks for the input. If the lace thing doesn't work I'll just kick them off

Are the top cuffs of your socks tight? (The 2 things that will make my toes go numb during a run are if my shoes are laced a bit tighter than usual, or if I wear a model of athletic sock that is tight around the ankle).
ETA: or thicker than usual socks (normally just an issue in winter for me where slightly less blood flow = numb from cold)

It could also be your stance and weight distribution across your feet. Most people have different weight distribution depending on the shoe or barefoot, Even minor differences can impact circulation under load. In your shoes you may be "leaning forward" or gripping with your toes whereas barefoot might be more even.

My toes go numb as well during heavy lifts. I wear double strap lifting shoes though. Always making sure that they’re quite tight since I want my feet to remain as stable as possible in the shoes. It’s never concerned me. Just feels like my toes are falling asleep, which I assumed was from the tightness. After squats I loosen them and it immediately goes away.

    Sounds like the same thing

I've had this off and on, it's never been a problem. If your getting sharp or lingering pain I would maybe look into orthodics or insoles. I would also recommend staying away from running/trainer shoes for any heavy lifting, you can lose stability when the weight get heavy and the cushioning will stop you from knowing if you weight has shifted into your toes, which could be part of the problem. I'd recommend adidas weight lifting shoes, or going barefoot for heavy compound lifts.
