Getting no support at home.

I'd like to lose about 40 lbs. Unfortunately, I am getting not support from my boyfriend (he likes plus sized women) despite being my goal weight when I met him. He tells me he'll "dig me at any size" but make negative comments about any dieting I might do. He calls them "anti-[hisname] diets" and thinks I go on them to spite him. The truth is, I don't feel good and my clothes are too tight. So I'm ignoring him and what will be will be. The truth is, I have a full on disorder of eating - a total food addiction! I hope to find some support here for obvious reasons.

I have always had a weight problem, and I've gained about 90 lbs in ten years. If things continue this way, I feel like I'm going to die in my 40s, and that absolutely terrifies me. I secretly wish that I get diagnosed with pre-diabetes or something so I'm forced to lose the weight. I play with the idea of surgery all the time, but that's also scary. I don't actually WANT to be thin, I just want to be able to breathe normally, and to be able to dance again.

I hope this community is more helpful than who I have around me. My family tries, but I'm not very close to them, so I just find it patronizing.

Do it for you! You don't need anyone other than yourself for drive. If your boyfriend actively tries to derail your progress you may want to consider a relationship adjustment. You can do this, just keep your goals in mind and take it one day at a time.
