Exercise adds calories to diet plan?

I just started doing Turbo Fire and Body Revolution this Monday, and i noticed that when i log my exercise the food allowance goes up. I don't understand why? Doesn't this cancel out the calories I just lost? Please somebody explain.

Also is anyone else doing turbo fire and body revolution?

When you set your goals on MFP it gives a calorie deficit to achieve your goal. With the deficit already being built in, when you do exercise you're increasing that deficit by how ever many calories you burned doing your exercise. Usually you will want to eat those calories back so you're not going into too much of a deficit that would be unhealthy. Its net calories for the day.

I would also add that when you set your profile in MFP, your activity level is supposed to EXCLUDE exercise. This is why you log exercise after the fact...it is extra activity above and beyond your day to day hum drum. People get confused because most calorie calculators include an estimate of exercise in your activity level, so eating them back in that case would defeat the purpose...also, a lot of people get confused because they think the calorie goal is maintenance and they have to exercise to build a deficit...not so with MFP.

Just make sure you're not overestimating burn....that's the number one issue people have...they think they're burning like 1,000 calories per hour and they're just not.

I noticed the same thing and was confused. I log my walks that I take in the morning and I'm also using a GoZone pedometer that counts steps, calories, and active minutes. I didn't think to add that info to my diary so I'm kinda wondering if I'm eating enough throughout the day.

I have a Body Media armband and aim for a 1,000 calorie deficit a day. I am trying to lose weight so I don't eat back my exercise calories.

MFP way, you eat back those calories because it has a built in deficit for you already so all you need to do is reach your daily intake. HRM will help you be more accurate with calories burned.

Unless you're doing the tdee method which already includes exercise, you should be eating back those calories.

Ok... so if my total caloric intake should be 1230, that's what I need to stay with even after adding my exercise?

1230 plus what you burned through exercise or else you will be creating a larger deficit. Large deficits has a greater chance of burning more muscle.
