HRM: how often do you adjust stats?

I bought a Polar FT4 because it was recommended, the price was right and I was curious. Turns out, I love it and it is a great motivator.

I set it up when I received it, weighed 2 days later and am down 1.2 lbs. I am not sure how sensitive they are, if that 1.2 lbs would make a difference. Not an issue right now as I can eat a lot since I am heavy, but eventually I will have to start eating a portion of the calories back.

I adjust mine about every 5 to 10 pounds depending.

    5-10 lbs.

5 if you're really close to goal, 10 if you've got some weight to lose. Definitely not 1.2lbs- your weight fluctuates by more than that during the day, you don't need to reset your HRM between breakfast and dinner. You'll drive yourself bonkers obsessing over that level of minutiae.

It was about 10 pounds for me...but mostly because I forgot about adjusting it...

    5-10 actual Lbs...

That 1.2 Lbs in a couple of days is just natural body weight fluctuation and you'll most likely notice it moving around. Track a general trend over time, not a couple of days.

    Thanks, I appreciate the responses.

I figured every 5-10 lbs would be good enough, I am glad to have it confirmed. I just could not see doing it weekly for such a tiny increment, especially with natural fluctuations.

Not an issue right now as I do not eat the calories back.... But good info for "someday."

I do weigh daily, but only log once a week. I think it's cool how our bodies fluctuate throughout the day. (Science teacher here; pins nerd badge on).

ETA: and by log I meant enter weight, I track calories daily. :-)
