What happens if you eat more protein.
I am already 7 over my target for Protein.
I had the following so far in my day
Premier Protein 30g
Banana 1g
Flax Fold Out had 9g of protein
Laughing Cow had 2g
turkey 6 slices 22g
pop corn 100 cal bag had 2g
Red Apple 1g
I get 60 per day of protein.
I still have to eat dinner and a snack
boy this is interesting
Day 1 - clear as mud

Nothing. Weight loss/gain is dependent on calories. Focus on that for now, then play with your macros to see what works best for you. Many will actually look at their protein goal as a minimum.0

Nothing, the protein on MFP is just a guideline. A lot of people eat a lot more than you did today. I managed 90g but would prefer a bit more. To many carbs today.
I am sure someone will be able to give you the math.
You could use the search function and check out the other threads regarding protein intake.0 -
Nothing, I look at the protein goal as a minimum, not a maximum.2

As already mentioned, nothing will happen. As above my protein goal is a minimum, i range from 130g to 160g a day.0

Day one may not notice a lot of difference quite honestly. No more than one day of eating enough veggies or one day of working out. But the difference over time builds momentum.
For me I noticed I was less hungry between meals and less likely to be tired.2 -
I think the mfp protein recommendations are too low for most people - eating more is not going to be bad for you, probably better!

60g isn’t really that much protein.3

You actually need more protein when eating in a calorie deficit. The MFP recommendations are a bare min, the amount to meet your basic nutritional needs, so if you are active/exercise or plan to, getting more is even more important.
Minimal goal is a good way to look at it.2 -
I don't know you might grow an extra arm?! No really protein is good. Going over won't hurt.0

Agreed, at least when one is at a low calorie level. 20% of 1200 is 60 g (as OP noted), and many or most on a deficit would be better off with more than 60 g.
OP, I think a good approach is .65-.85 g per lb of goal weight, and if one has a 125 lb goal, .8 g/lb is 100 g. That said, those who said to focus on calories first have a point. But I'd treat the protein amount as a minimum, not a cap.1
