Hi how much water should you be drinking on a daily basis in order to lose weight? I notice when I drink a lot of water my weight tends to go up by a pound or 2

Water does nothing for weight loss other than keep you from drinking anything with calories. Hydration-wise, you should make sure your urine is a pale color to know you’re eating enough.

Water like any thing else has weight but that doesn't effect fat loss.

For weight loss purposes I think the best thing you can do is to take a good hard look at anything you are currently drinking with calories and see if there are changes to be made that you feel happy living with. I’ve personally made soda a “special occasion” drink that I mostly only get when I go to see a movie or am at a party. I’ve also started drinking unsweetened ice tea in the afternoon as I find it helps keep the bored eating to a minimum by keeping my mouth busy. There’s nothing magic about unflavored water that will help you lose weight, or really even keep you hydrated - all liquids except alcohol are hydrating, even caffeinated ones.

Why do you think drinking a certain amount of water would make you lose weight?

The amount of fluids, not just water remember as I get a lot of mine from tea, to remain adequately hydrated is completely individual.
