Headaches

I am one week in to the Diet Chef diet and sticking to it rigidly. I am consuming more than enough water but have found that I am suffering from headaches which I have never suffered from in the past. They usually come on in the evening. So looking at my food diary on MFP I am having the right balance of nutrients across meals. Has anyone else experienced this or is my body just rebelling ! Not very pleasant I must admit
Many thanks
Karen

    Is it low carb?

Did you give up sugar or caffeine?

Lower carb than I usually eat but fairly balanced. Don't take sugar but now you mention it I basically have substituted most of my cups of tea throughout the day by the pints of water ! Only having my morning cup - so I guess that could be the cause :-) Thankyou

has your sugar intake declined since your new diet? This can be a sugar withdrawal symptom.

I would say no on the sugar but definitely on the tea intake. Down to one cup from about 8. Not intentional, just trying to consume the water intake advised instead.

You can count tea as water. It sounds like the caffeine withdrawal is part of your problem. I have to wean down slowly when I go off caffeine. Why not have a few cuppas still? Headaches can bite me.

More than enough water will at some point become too much water and cause headache. Are you compensating for all the water by upping salt intake?

Yes I think I will. To be fair cutting down that much was not really intentional, just the glasses of water were keeping me occupied i just never thought about it. As it counts as water intake think I will do just as you suggest. Now off to make a nice black coffee before bed !

No I haven't been to be honest. I am really bad for salt as it is, but as you say increase in water ......... did not cross my mind. Thank you

Salt binds water, and too much water paradoxically dehydrates you - it's the dehydration that causes headaches (I know I was a bit unclear). Hope your issues resolve soon.
