Do you a) hit your calorie target and b) have calorie target of more than 1200?4
-
isn't it just an estimate?11
-
It's an estimate based on if you eat that exact amount of calories every single day for five weeks. I don't even complete my diary because it's useless.10

How about every day for the next 5 weeks you eat the exact same thing as you did TODAY, and do the exact same exercise, eg do everything exactly the same, Then see how accurate the prediction is.
If you find this impossible, as everyone does.. then take the prediction with a grain of salt.20 -
it is as close as the calories are accurate4

Don't sweat the small stuff.5

I like it, I don’t think of it as what will definitely happen, more of a motivational thing.
A “what could be” if I stay on track and stay away from the ice cream and chocolate. Lol15 -
Have you eaten exactly the same thing, and moved in exactly the same way every day for 5 weeks?4

Or buy a smaller size dress for your wedding in 5 weeks.12 -
I pay zero attention to this average.
It means nothing!
Just keep eating at a deficit and take this journey a day at a time.1 -
tell us something we dont know.
it would be right if every single day were EXACTLY like that. but its not. even if you eat the same foods/amounts, every day is NOT the same. we move a different amount, sleep a different amount, exert ourselves different, have different stresses.
its a useless 'feature' that has never been accurate for anyone lololol2 -

Yeah, it was never right for me either. I always beat their estimate. I was losing weight faster than than what MFP estimated.
But it is a calculation based on whatever you ate and did on that particular day. If every day were exactly like TODAY ...2 -

At the end of yesterday, mine shows me dropping 13.4 lbs in 5 weeks. But that's because on Saturday's I eat a lot less, and work a lot more on outdoor stuff at home. No other day of the week is like that, so I don't expect to actually lose those 13 lbs so quickly. I actually would not want to, from my current weight!!2 -
I have often found that the estimate is higher than I actually wind up weighing in 5 weeks, so in some ways I like that it's inaccurate
I think it's just a fun thing to motivate you, so don't sweat it too much. It's probably impossible for anyone to accurately figure the exact amount a person would weigh in 5 weeks, even if that person ate the exact same things every day. Water weight alone would make it a mystery, especially if you're a woman!6 -
It's just meant to be fun I really don't think it's meant to be taken so serious6
-
I know it's wrong but I quite like it there.2

Like, I use the Happy Scale app. It is more realistic and provides your future trend based on all your cumulative history. That, you can rely on.
But, just looking at one day, and saying in 5 weeks you’ll be x lbs is pretty nonsensical.
Perhaps not so nonsensical. It's all based on "If every day were like today...". For most people, everyday isn't alike, but that's the logic being used. And if you like the result being proposed, it may actually be an incentive to make tomorrow look like today!!3 -

And on the flip side, if you have a rough day and over-indulge in too many calories seeing how that can affect your weight would hopefully help inspire you to make tomorrow not like today LOL3
