Hello and happy new year to all!
I am new to mfp community blog, but have been using the app for many years as a way to log my steps. I've decided to join a blog as a way to stay motivated as I launch a weight loss journey.
I've always been active and enjoy many forms of exercise and so I've always been thin and able to maintain my weight. However, recently I began grad school in a new city far from my year-round warm CA. With this move and change of lifestyle, I've encountered barriers to staying active and eating healthy. The extreme cold outside makes it less motivating to be active outdoors or to even go to the gym despite the free gym at my university, parking at the school gym is a challenge as there is VERY limited spaces, preparing my meals has become less frequent as my time is usually spent studying, and a major decrease to my total daily activity. Going into my second semester, I am more comfortable with my role as a student (after being away from academics for several years) and would like to drop the few pounds I gained during my first semester. I'm hoping to drop 7-10 pounds which is about what I have gained. If this trend in weight gain continues I can only imagine what my weight will be upon completing my program, but more importantly what will my health be like? As a public health professional, this is very concerning to me and feel that I am at the right time to manage the situation.
With all that said, I hope to build an inspiring community that will keep me motivated in my weight loss journey. Please feel free to add me or comment on my post and I will add you. Together we can all help each other reach our goals!
Looking forward to a bright 2018!
