5 stone before 30!!!

Hi everyone
Is it too late to say happy new year?!
I’m Lydia, I’m 28 and overweight.
Ive tried every diet going! I find I’m ok for a while but get bored at the point I feel like the ‘diet’ is completely taking over my life. The longest I’ve stuck to a plan is 3 months, which was at slimming world. I gave up with that in December 2017 after losing only 10lbs in 3 months. I personally think the unlimited amount of potatoes, rice and pasta just doesn’t work for me!
I lost a lot of weight in 2014, I was at my heaviest of 17 stone. I got in a new relationship, and because I was so happy and had a lifestyle change I found my eating habits got better and I was more active. I lost nearly 4 stone!
Of course as time has gone on Ive got comfortable, the take aways have become more often and the exercise is almost non existent. In 2016 I had a gall bladder operation, and I broke my leg and ankle which meant 3 months of no walking or exercise.
I’m back at my heaviest now and I know I need a huge wake up call.
I don’t want to be on a faddy diet or a ridiculous exercise routine. I just want to start eating healthily again, get my portions under control and start exercising even if it’s only for 15 minutes a day.
I have set myself small goals, but my ultimate goal is to lose 5 stone before I’m 30. So that gives me 21 months to change my lifestyle and maintain it. I think this is realistic?
I want to go into the next decade at a healthy weight and a more active lifestyle.
My biggest motivation is that I do eventually want a child, and being at the weight I’m at, I just don’t think my body could cope.
Sorry for the lengthy post!
I would like to speak to anyone who has been or is in a similar situation. I will post regular updates!
Here’s to a healthier more positive 2018.
Happy Sunday x

Thanks for that.
I have been trying a long time but faddy diets just do not work for me. I think it should be a lifestyle change not a quick fix diet plan.
I don’t believe in losing 5 stone in the smallest amount of time would be achievable and healthy, and it probably wouldn’t be maintainable which Is why I have set small goals and would like to be at target by the time I’m 30’which is less than 2 years away.
I only lost 10lbs in 3 months because the slimming world plan didn’t work for me. I stuck to it 100%. Apart from maybe 2 days out of the whole time.
I very much want to lose weight hence the post and why I have joined my fitness pal.1 -
I think it's a good thing to have a long term goal, then shorter term mini goals so that the long term goal doesn't seem too far away. You aren't going to lose 5 stone overnight, any more than you put it on overnight, but if you give yourself realistic short term goals and stick to them, they will all add up.
Good luck!0 -
I agree with Moosmum1972. Those comments were a bit rough. I wish I could lose 10lbs in 3 months!! That is pretty good. Also, excuse me for asking a dumb question but what does Lydia mean by "5 stone"?
70 pounds. A stone is a British measurement equivalent to 14 pounds.
OP, your goal is very realistic. Even with Slimming World that was a pound a week, which is quicker than what you want to do overall.1
