I am going to get my bmr / rmr tested at a gym through machine.
How accurate are these tests.
I am hypothyroid so expecting a lower number.
Then i will design my diet accordingly.

Even when you find out your real RMR number.... you won't know your real activity factor to multiply that number with!
So it is a fun fact to have. But it does not determine your TDEE by itself. And your TDEE is what you actually burn in a day.2 -
Lol.
I am mostly a sedentry person.
Only walk for half an hour.
So it might help.1 -
what sort of machine?1

How are they testing you?
Via breath analysis in a fasted state and avoiding exercise and stimulants for a period of hours before the test?
As you can see from those conditions the number given is of limited relevance, as PAV8888 mentions it's just part of your overall calorie requirements.
I would just regard it as somewhat interesting information but don't think "designing your diet" around it would be appropriate.3 -
yes through breathing machine.

yes through breathing machine.
It will be interesting to see what the number comes up with compared to what MyFitnessPal estimates for you. You could do the maths around activity multipliers yourself if significantly different or just let this site do the maths for you if similar.
Do follow the instructions they give you around fasting etc. etc. etc. though.
Just a small amount of caffeine will mess up the results significantly.1 -
lol turned out there was no breathing machine.
but a digital machine on which you have to stand and hold it with hands and stand straight.
the bmr or rmr machine is not availble in my country pakistan.3 -

I used one of those when I went to see a dietitian when I was 19. The number was so wrong that I was convinced for 20 years that the only way I would be able to lose weight was to starve myself.
Don't put too much faith into it...2 -
Lol i have zero faith in digital machines0
