This may sound silly but is there a phone App that will kick in and tell you out loud how many minutes you have run or walked at every minute?

Here is my situation:

It is super wintery icy here for another 3 month. Currently -30C with a windchill of -41C so outside runs are not happening for a while.

I have been working on C25K at the indoor track. It was going great then Christmas came and I had to be away from the indoor track but managed to get my C25K days in but on a treadmill. Low and behold I really liked it more because I was able to see the clock counting down. It kept me hopeful that I could do it.

I have been using the treadmill ever since and should finish my 30 minute jog and the entire program Next Mon.Yay!

Now I know the treadmill is much easier than the track and outdoors. So I need to get back to the track but the thought of running with my phone tucked away out of view scares me! I want to know how many minutes have passed, how many are left, something! I plan to listen to my Zombies Run app alongside it.

Does such an app exist for me to use till I can get outside in the Spring?
Thanks from here in the Candian freezer.

I use Runkeeper that tells me time and average pace- I have it set for every 5 minutes, but I am sure you can change it.

I am very much the opposite of you though- knowing how much time is left drives me nuts! I cover the time on treadmills and just set a timer so I am happily surprised when I am finished!

Fitbit's internal distance tracker does and so does MapMyRun, I think

Under Armour Record works well for this as well, full customization for what you want to hear for splits and how often. Also syncs really easily with MFP since it's all under the same UA umbrella.

The vast majority of app do this. However, it would depend on GPS readings for many of them, so that may or may not work on an indoor track.

MapMyRun and MapMyWalk both have verbal alerts but as previously stated, they rely on GPS data which is not very accurate unless you are covering a lot of ground - I tried it once for hallway laps (it was a rainy day) and the results from MapMyWalk were totally bogus (and you should have seen the map of what my walk looked like - like a drunken sailor on crack!).

Runkeeper will say time elapsed for GPS or just timer (no GPS) activities. For GPS activities it will also say distance/pace. You can have it speak as often as every minute.

Oh my God your comment made me laugh!!!

Thanks guys. I will have to try some of these alongside Zombies Run. I am sure one or many will do the trick.
I knew I would find help here.
    Cheers!

I once turned on FitBit to Track a treadmill run (not distance, just to log the work out/calories) and about peed my pants laughing at this.

I am hoping once I get more experience I won't be so worried about how much longer and actually enjoy the ride!

I'd be surprised if your C25k doesn't have a follow on for a 10k app. I have 2 10k apps on my phone atm both have a c25k and a 1/2 marathon app as well.

On my Fitbit Blaze I can set treadmill as one of my workouts... Counts steps & HR without turning on the GPS function.
