Exercise Calorie Entry Confusion

I understand that MFP is set up to eat exercise calories earned. However, I don't understand why we enter our "planned" exercise in the diet and fitness profile. How does that entry (the planned exercise - not actual) affect our calorie totals?

What is the purpose of that info. Let's say your goal is 1520 calories with 4x30 min. workouts a week. How would getting more than 120 minutes of exercise affect the loss? How is that factored in? In that instance, wouldn't I still lose my goal weight if I stuck to the min. 1520 calories even if I worked out 0 times that week instead of 4. If I worked out 7 times instead of 4 times, wouldn't I still lose the same amount as long as I eat all those extra calories.

Or is the "planned exercise" just used as a motivational tool, and doesn't affect our daily calorie goal?

Hopefully this makes sense. I'm not really sure how to explain myself exactly. Thanks!

It's just a goal you put in that you hope to reach. The info in that section does not get included in your calorie goal.
