Knee inflammation and bursitis

It seems like everytime I exercise into a run approx 4.5mph, the bursitis in my knee and inflammation in my leg below the knee flares up. Does anyone have suggestions for a brace or some warm exercises that might lessen this pain? It's what has been stopping me from using the treadmill. Icy hot helps afterwards, but I'd like to try prevention.

Try
0. See a doctor to make sure it's just inflammation/irritation
1. Running slower
2. walking faster
3. walking farther before running
4. IF it's just inflammation, There's some good running sleeves out there. I've had the most success with the thick lycra/neoprene while running followed by ice and heat after running. I hardly use any at all these days. Again. See a doctor first.0
