Opinions on fasted weight training

So with my current schedule I’m only going to be able to work out early morning. I was wondering if it’s ok to just go ahead and lift fasted right after waking up or if i should wake up a little earlier and snag something small before going like an egg or two. Anyone know the benefits/drawbacks aside from the simple you’ll have less energy stores to work with when fasted?

I workout every morning first thing, no eating till after. I don't do heavy lifting at home, but I do some workouts with cardio and dumbbells. My other workouts are either aerobics of some sort, kickboxing, yoga, etc. I would not want to eat before any of it; it would just waste time and not feel good to be jumping around with that being in my belly. My energy levels are fine.1

I do it every morning. 4:30 a.m. I don't notice much difference at all.
I can't eat that early. Yuck.1 -
I never eat before I work out - whether it's at 6am or 10am. My first meal is usually around noon.
I went to the gym after dinner one day last week and was much more uncomfortable working out with a full stomach1 -
I believe it is more important to get enough protein throughout the day every day in order to have a constant flow of amino acids to rebuild muscle. The only thing I am aware of related to timing of meals around weight lifting is that your muscles are slightly better at taking in glycogen in the hours immediately after strength training... so if you are going to eat carbs, the best time is right after lifting. (I'm not convinced there is enough of an advantage to be worthwhile changing much in your schedule to accommodate this.)0

Why eggs? Eggy burps while training - yuk!
Lifting is only a small calorie burn and you have loads of energy onboard already.
Unless you actually feel down on energy during the workout and performance is suffering I would just eat afterwards. For an energy boost fast acting and easy to digest carbs would be my choice if you are feeling sluggish not a slow to digest egg.
I'd have that later with some bacon.....

Unless you are a very lean body builder trying to max every last bit of MPS, it make little difference. Do what works for your life and preferences.4

Go for it! If I'm able to lift in the morning, I do fine with my normal load fasted. Later in the day, the tank is empty and I need a protein shake to get through my normal load/routine.2

I wouldnt recommend fasted generally. Especially if you lift in a progressive program. If you are based more cardio then personal preference is default.
I would let's some oats soak overnight in some whey protien and instant coffee and/or orange juice. Shake it up & drink on way to gym.
It's not that fasted is bad for you lifting per sae, it's just not optimal for energy and possibly some recovery lags in between sets.3 -
I do it.1

I hate working out after I eat. I always feel too full and sluggish. I think it's personal preference, tbh1

Not sure how much an egg is going to help for energy anyway, little bit of fat might help a little I guess but I wouldn't expect much from it.
I train early morning and don't have time to eat and I'm generally fine, perform well and hit PR's. Days where I don't feel great I focus on what's most important and forget about the rest.0 -
I usually have greek yogurt and a handful of bran buds along with my preworkout. It gives me a little more energy, and I feel like it helps me "wake up". But there's nothing wrong with training fasted (and no great help, either).0

Well the egg was just the first thing that popped in my mind when I think of breakfast lol not necessarily the only thing I eat for breakfast. And right now I do a push pull split with core the day in between so it’s a 6 day routine and I take sundays as rest. Im honestly just trying to lose fat. I’m at a pretty comfortable weight I just want to lose some of the extra baggage and replace it with muscle. Just wanted to make sure that lifting fasted wasn’t going to affect any growth or changes too drastically.0

Gotcha'. Just make sure you nutrition plan over the course of the day and week is where it needs to be and you shouldn't have problems. I listened to a lecture from a couple Sports Physios about a year ago now, and basically they were discussing some of the research related to fasted training and the positive response on mitochondria. I never read the actual research but the main host would be a trusted resource; I learned about it from one of my professors.0
