1lb a week even though obese?

I'm 31f/5'8, 240 pounds. I have mfp set a 1lb a week, but I am not going to add in my exercise calories. I've just started working out so I am not burning many calories through that right now. Is what I'm doing okay?

    'Slow and steady wins the race' - having set your cals to lose 1lb a week you'll find you'll be more likely to stick to the plan as you wont feel deprived.
    Remember you can eat back some of those exercise calories as well.
