I have a swim test on Friday for part of a job interview on Friday... I'd imagine its the basics like treading water, jumping in etc. However when I googled it it says I have to be able to swim 50m in 60 seconds...

How hard is it to do this?

I haven't been swimming properly in a very long time. I have 2 days to get it down.

Advice please?!

Thanks ,

M

Can you get to a pool beforehand? time yourself and see where you are at?

    I think I swim 50m breaststroke in 60 seconds.

If you are not completely new to swimming I'd say you will be fine :) Front crawl is way faster than breaststroke generally and as you know it is 'only' 50m you can push for a sprint if you are not within the time in your practice :)

Edited to ask - will it be with clothes? or normal costume? cos that would be a game changer!

I swim breaststroke a lot (4 times a week, 3.5km per session) and I average about 57 seconds per 50 metres. Have to be honest that that’s pretty fast. I’m usually faster than most people in the pool doing crawl.

I’d definitely recommend testing yourself beforehand and as @beerfoamy says finding out whether that’s dressed or in costume.

Hmm ok! Thanks so much for the advice...

I have to wear a t shirt in the pool. I am going to try and get to a pool tonight, and definitely get to one tomorrow.

Hoping I'm not completely helpless, in the process of convincing a friend to come with and help me out!

try and get a tshirt that is as fitted as possible if you get to choose! and definitely practice swimming and getting out while wearing it if your pool will let you. Pulling yourself out of water in baggy clothing is a tad harder!

am sure it'll come back after a few lengths of practice :)
