I’m currently deciding whether to start trying to build strength and muscle or get to my goal weight first (50kgs)
Would I need to up my calories if I wanted to put on muscle or just maintain?

53kg is light for your height so you're looking at a recomp to build some strength and aim to maintain your weight.
If you have been eating at calorie deficit you need to change your settings to maintain weight.0
