I'm struggling with getting home late and being very hungry and eating later than I should.
Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Plan out your calories for the day so that you have enough left to eat when you get home.

Late eating makes no difference to weight loss. Overall calories are what matter. You only need to avoid late eating if it upsets your stomach to eat right before you lay down.

You could eat more calories during the day to avoid being hungry later at night. Or save your calories for your late night eating. Either way, if your goal is weight loss and you stay within your calorie goals, eating late at night in and of itself won't make any difference in your weight loss. But if you are eating late at night and as a result going over your calorie goals, then you won't lose weight and you may gain if you are going over maintenance.

Are you hungry because you have calories left for the day? If so, why not eat? Eating late won't keep you from losing weight if you're in a deficit and it should only be avoided if it causes other problems for you (like heartburn).

It's a very common myth that eating late at night causes weight gain. All that matter is you burn more calories than you consume over a given period. Meal timing doesn't have anything to do with that. And regardless of what anyone on TV says, you burn calories 24 hours per day, yes even when you're asleep.

You have to figure out if you are eating to satisfy hunger or just to snack. either way, if you’re under count it’s ok.

If eating late fits your schedule then eat late. I lost all my while eating late at night and have maintained that loss for 2 years while eating late at night.

I eat all the way up to bedtime as long as I have the calories for it.

Keep calories for eating when you get home. When you eat doesn't matter for weight loss. I don't eat until at least 11am, and will snack until bed time.
