Eating back calories??

Can someone explain why u should eat back calories?? If I burnt 500 cal why wud I eat them back does that not defeat the object?

    No it doesn't defeat the object because your deficit has already been deducted from your maintenance intake to give you your net calorie allowance:

    Burning 500 calories does not equal eating 500 calories.

    Yes many do start out with 50% but then adjust based on real world data but there are also many of us who eat them all back myself included and lose at the expected rate.

    Lucky you (non sarcastic) I get 75% before things stop

    My Garmin is fairly accurate (ran a spreadsheet for 4 weeks to track it's accuracy, against my actual/trend weight loss and food intake and had it at 2% underestimating) at tracking my activity, but I am also much better at food logging now, before I was terrible and I think this is also where the 50% becomes helpful to some, because it means they can be less stringent with their food logging.
