Treadmill smells like it's burning

Hello MFP peeps,

So I wanted to ask... Has anyone ever experienced an issue with their treadmill where after about 25-27 mins of use, it starts to smell like it's burning?

This is a new issue I've run into as of recently, and I'm looking for some advice that may lead to a solution. My treadmill is my prime way of working out daily, so not being able to use it has become quite inconvenient. I've already done a little research into the issue and after testing out the "Dead Walk" on it, I think it's safe to say that it needs some Lubricant pretty badly. This is my first treadmill so, kinda new to the whole maintenance thing lol... but I've had it for a few years now.. never had this issue until now. It has been sitting without being used for quite some time though before I became active again, maybe dust could also play a part in why it's starting to smell?

Any tips/advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you! o:)o:)o:)

Yes, if the wax on the belt and deck have deteriorated, that could be a cause. Others: the walking belt could be misaligned and rubbing against the frame (by this time you’d probably have noticed), worn or misaligned drive belt (connects motor to the rollers), dirty drive belt, worn out motor. Most of these things are not necessarily something you can diagnose/fix yourself. It might be worth a few $$ to bring in a professional.

Thanks for the info! I’m currently seeing if I can help the problem with lubricant, and dusting out the motor (which has never been cleaned). :dizzy:
