New-to-me Fitbit Stuck in GMT

Hi! I'm back to MFP after a long hiatus. I did have a fitbit, but it met its demise after an accidental round in the washer.

Now that I'm back to MFP, I purchased a used Fitbit. After some struggles, I got it set up.... except the time is stuck in GMT.

I have done the following per Fitbit troubleshoot:
  • Reinstalled fitbit app on my Android phone
  • Gone to Bluetooth settings and made it forget the fitbit
  • Factory reset fitbit
(these above steps finally got them to sycnc)
Now I know the two are communicating, but the time on the fitbit is 5 hours fast.
I have tried:
  • Going into Advanced Settings in App and turned off Auto Time Zone
  • Selected Manual Time Zone (Eastern -5GMT)
  • Let it run while I was sleeping in hopes one of the syncs would get the right time to the fitbit
  • Restarted phone

Anyone have any further ideas how to get the right time displayed?

Thanks in advance!
~Becky

  • Looks like you’re gonna have to move.
Or call their actual support line number.

I'm almost wondering if someone sold you a faulty Fitbit (seeing as it was used).

Maybe try changing the settings from the website instead of the phone app and then sync your Fitbit to the app to apply the changes.

Thanks. I ended up caving and contacting customer service chat. (Can't call out on phone as receptionist, I'm jostling too many phone lines!)

They had me change time zone to a wrong time zone for me... sync. Then change back to correct time zone and sync again. That did the trick!

Unfortunately, I lost my stats for the day up to this point... not sure how that happened...

Hoping this will help someone else though if they are ever looking.
