Walking app Android reccomendation?

I tried Endomono, and it tracked me as no distace and 122cal burn doing an hour 2 mile walk (I did stop at a few points for photography), but it tracked me as 1mil, 122 cal burnt in a 22min walk a few weeks ago, a short walk, so I have gone by MFP's calculation for a slow pace, but is there any reccomendations at all please?

  • I use Runtastic and you just change the sport type from Running to Walking. I use it every time I go out for a walk. I tried 2 other pedometers and they don't seem to work well. I actually just upgraded from the free runtastic to the Pro version for $5. Oh and there is a runtastic pedometer to...don't use that one. That one is a motion step counter, regular runtastic uses GPS to measure your walk.

I'm using http://www.sports-tracker.com/ and loving it. Free and works with my Polar HRM.

Also, if your hike got tracked as no distance, you probably lost GPS signal, make sure it's on before you start logging your outdoor exercises.

I use runtastic for running and walking. It syncs with mfp as well.

Another runtastic fan here. I also use it for logging swimming and my strength workouts. For that side it's pretty basic and I use the online "add workout" tools but it still gives a good overall view of your activity levels for the month.

Odd that you had trouble with Endomondo. I use it for running and it has been very reliable.

I also use MapMyWalk and it is pretty good also. The only reason I use 2 different ones is that I don't like mixing the casual strolls with the training runs.

A couple of things to note...

All the apps use the phone's GPS and if they have trouble giving you reasonably accurate results, there may be an issue with the phone itself. Some apps are more accurate than others because of how they smooth the points; GPS on phones is accurate to within a few yards/meters but will show you bouncing around like a pinball if you looked at the raw data.

On Android phones, you can run more than one app at the same time to compare them or just to be sure you get something you really want tracked. They share the GPS; they don't grab it exclusively.

Runtastic is best i would say as thats what i used and also make sure you switch your GPS on so that it can track you every step and also remember when you enter into building the signal can be lost as it cant communicate with the satelite up above.

    Hope this helps.

Feel free to add me everyone :) Thanks
