Hiya,

My posts aren't posting for some reason! Third time lucky! Long story short, I'm 18, 5 foot 5 and hAve got to a whopping 219 pounds! I'm going back to basics and am going to do the right way! Wish me luck! Hopefully MFP will help! I've set my calorie limit to 1200 and I'm going to walk my dog for an hour a day!

I think you are going to be miserable at 1200 calories a day. I know rapid weight loss is so motivating, but it's hard to keep the weight off. Instead, find out what maintenance calories would be for your goal weight, and eat 10% less. I've tried 1200 calories or less, and some days I do fine, but it's just so few calories you always feel hungry, and it basically sucks. I lost 15 lbs (which was most of what I wanted to lose) in about 1.5 months a couple years ago. Then I gained it back, plus 10 lbs because the amount I was eating and the exercise I was doing wasn't sustainable long term. This time I'm going for "slow and steady wins the race".
