Does anyone know how to best determine the right macros for your own personal weight loss?

Just use the default macros. They exist for a reason, and they work.
The exact breakdown doesn't make much difference it's all (and Only) about calories. Just make sure you're hitting your Goals of protein and fats as set by the site. Look at them as minimum numbers to hit, then the rest can fall where they fall. "Going over" on protein and/or fat does no harm. It's about calories.

I'm a fan of using the setup described here, if you want to customize them: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/819055/setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets/p1

Weight loss is all about your calorie deficit, not macros0
