Water weight question?

I go to bed at around 178.4. I drink a lot of water through out the night. I would say around half a gallon water. My weight sky rockets in the morning to around 179.2. Could it just be water weight? After I go for a run my weight then just decreases rapidly to about 175. How is that possible?

It's definitely water. It's not uncommon for your weight to fluctuate 4 lbs throughout the day when you workout and drink a lot of water.0

4 pints throughout the night huh? I thought my 1/2 was good!!
Defo nothing to worry about buddy it's normal.0 -
I sometimes have a large meal at the weekend whether it be chinese, Mcdonalds etc.. usually I can have around 3000-5000 calories and my weight fluctuates upto 10 lbs. I drink lots of water over the next few days and bamm, back to where I was0

Water is heavy, like 8 lbs per gallon if I remember right, and your body has a great capacity to store water when it deems desirable to do so...yes, it's very possible...particularly if you are in the pattern of running in the morning and your body knows it's going to need extra water to sweat for temperature control...0

I always weigh more in the morning. I thought I was odd as everyone else always says that's when you are at your lightest0

I think this question answers itself. Of course the scale will say you weigh more than you did before you drank a half gallon of water.
An increase of .8 lbs is hardly "skyrocketing".
Relax. Stop weighing yourself so often. Fluctuations are normal, and they will always happen.0 -
You're suppose to weigh yourself in the AM after you discretly disposse of waste. That's when you're the lightest0

Step away from the scales and start weighing yourself once a week, in the morning after your ablutions. If you can't understand how going for a run, where you burn calories and sweat can cause you to lose weight, you're definitely not in the right mind set to weight daily.
Even if you are weighing weekly, watch your salt intake so you don't do a high salt day, the day before you weigh.0 -
One pint of water weighs a pound. You actually "gained" less than you drank (probably because you lose water via breathing and sweating during the night).0
