How do I know my macro?

Hi, I’ve been on my fitness pal for a long time but never knew there was a forum!
I see people talking about their macros, I have no idea what mine should be!
I’m a Uk size 10-12 and would like to get nice and comfortable back in my jeans again, so ideally would like to be back in 8-10.
I weigh 141 lbs, my height is 5’5 and have set my diary to lose 1/2 lb a week as I’m not in a rush and don’t want to lose heart by being too hungry.
I work out by classes, running and swimming 3-4 times a week.
I think I’m on my 3rd week now and noticed a difference already with my body tightening up! Scales haven’t gone down (that’s ok though, I’m being patient)
Sorry for the waffling!
I’d just like to get some advice on macro goals :) thanks!

MFPs macros are fine if you see fat and protein as minimums.

Or aim for 0.8g per pound of bodyweight for protein and 0.3-0.4g of fat per pound of bodyweight and carbs the rest.

Should be, as in ideal, no such thing. You can go with the default if that works for you. If you're hungry or otherwise unsatisfied, you can change it. I liked a slightly higher fat% and lower carb% while I was losing, if I remember correctly, I ate around 45% fat, 20% protein and 35% carbs. But now, in maintenance, I'm pretty close to the default. In retrospect, I think what made it work, was that I was sticking to an appropriate calorie goal, and ate balanced and varied. Appropriate calorie goal is a narrow range, but balanced and varied is a wide range. All the talk about filling foods and avoiding hunger pangs confuses me. If anything, that is what makes me hungry :#

Thanks, I’ll just keep doing what I am then! I see macros mentioned here and there and was worrying that I was delaying any weight loss!

Nope, there is no magic bullet :D Just "eat less, move more" :)
