I recently read this article on "Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenisis" and it suggests that our daily movements or NEAT have more impact on weight loss than does regularly scheduled exercise activity.

Thoughts? Comments

There was a nice long thread a bit ago on various ways to increase NEAT - it’s a concept I wasn’t familiar with until I started lurking here, and it really is fascinating. One aspect I find very interesting is how intentional exercise or undereating can both impact NEAT, leading to slower than expected weight loss.

haven't read the study yet - but i observe it in myself - i've pretty much maintained the same weight on higher calories (avg 2500 a day) - by just moving more (I do 10-12k steps on avg); on days my steps are lower (6-8k range) - i observe a higher weight fluctuation
