Question on changing macros

Long story short, I’ve lost 90 pounds. I yo yo’d a bit up and down regaining all but 30. About 2 years ago i lost the 60 i regained and have managed to keep it off. I have truly changed my lifestyle and have continued to keep my calorie consumption and activity level at the top of my priority list. I have toyed around with my macros and can successfully maintain at 40% protein, 30 carb and 30 fat. The problem is i find it difficult to prepare meals and snacks with those percentages. I have an “easier” day utilizing 30 protein, 40 carb and 30 fat. It just seems easier for me to plan my day and maintain my calories that way. I have not done the 30/40/30 plan for an extended period of time simply because I’m parinoid that i will gain. But i am truly wondering if 10 percent will even make a difference. I have considered utilizing a company like Macrostax to help me meal plan based on 40/30/30 simply because i plan my day the night before and have to spend a good 20-30 minutes playing with it. I was curious as to others thoughts on the subject. Should i just bite the bullet and try 30/40/30 and quit being so damn worrisome?

Hey! I think it's worth a shot! And if you do gain a little more than you're comfortable with, you know how to fix it. It's important to enjoy life as well, and have your lifestyle be maintainable.

You should be fine. Finding a sustainable diet that you can live with for the long term is the best way to succeed. 30% protein should be plenty. "They" say you should have between 0.8 and 1 gram of protein for every pound of lean body mass. Not your total weight, only your lean body mass. So if you weigh 200 lbs (just pulling a number out of thin air), but your lean body mass is 150 lbs, then your protein goal should be somewhere between 120-150 grams. If that equation lines up with your current 30% protein, you're golden.
