Coffee while fasting?

I have started 16/8 fasts and I am wondering if black coffee is okay in the morning? I stopped eating last night at 7PM and won't be eating until 11AM today. I'm fine without the food, but I am dying for a cup of coffee lol!

Do you limit yourself to just water on fasts? Or is black coffee okay?

As far as I remember, you can drink coffee while in the fasting window.
When I did IF I remember I still drank my coffee, except with no milk or sugar.

I personally have a cup of black coffee and it doesn't have an adverse effect on my fasting. For the most part, though, I stick with water. LOTS of water.

Even if it wasn't okay, if you enjoy black coffee and it improves your adherence or overall dieting experience I would do it anyways regardless of what the IF rulebook says.

I haven't tried IF, but I know that when fasting for medical tests they've said I can have black coffee, so I'd think you can go for it.

I'm doing the 5:2 fasting thing... and I've read the book a few days ago... Black tea and coffee is fine, but if you put in sugar or milk you have to count those calories... I don't have milk in either anyway (never have) so I've been finding the 3 cups of black tea or coffee I have a day at work really doesn't matter if its a fast day or not.

I definitely have to have coffee in the morning because that's the time I work out and find it helps my energy levels. I do add some sugar free creamer just to keep the cals low, as I'm not a fan of black coffee. If you need it for energy, go for it. The calories are miniscule so I wouldn't worry.
