Listened to a nice interview of Mike Isaetel PhD in Sport Physiology. He made a great statement a about figuring out what is *kitten* when it comes to nutrition. He suggests getting a textbook from an entry level college nutrition class. He said it will be boring as *kitten* to read, but if you read it you will be able to make informed judgments on the stuff on the Internet, TV, what people are telling you etc.
From looking around a bit you can get many used college textbooks that are no longer the current edition for 10-15% of original cost (so around $20). And there hasn't been that many changes in actual nutrition information in the last 10 years.
