Hey all!

So I am having a bad diet day. If I eat poorly for one day, but exercise and stay within my calorie goal (but over in carbs) will it stunt my weight loss?

Thanks!

Calories are what are important for weight management...your macros play little to no roll in weight management other than for satiety and dietary adherence. Hitting your calorie targets is what is most important for weight management.

You’ll be fine. But keep in mind that if your carb intake is significantly more than normal, you’ll likely see an increase (due to water weight) on the scale for the next couple of days. For each g of carbs, you also hold 3-4g of water. So if you have an additional 100-ish g of carbs, even if your calories are perfect, you’ll see about an extra pound on the scale due to extra water. That water will go away in a few days when your carb intake goes back down to normal. This isn’t actual fat weight. It’s just water. Calorie balance over the long term is what determine whether or not you lose weight.

Don't expect perfection and you won't be disappointed!

Carbs don't cause weight gain, excess calories do.

as long as bad diet days are only occasionally, you will be fine. But if every other day is a bad diet day, it probably wont work.

What exactly makes it a bad diet day? What are your goals?
