I'm New

A year ago I started logging my food and stopped after a week. I wanted to lose the weight I gained after surgery. I lost some weight and then gained some and now a year later I weigh exactly the same as when I started out last year. I consider this a victory: I ate whatever but kept up with my exercise. Had I done nothing, I would have weighed more than I did last year.

I'm a healthy weight, but my weight is creeping up every year as is typical for women my age (44). I was used to being 120 or less until I turned 30, and then I weighed in the 130s until I turned 40 - suddenly I weighed 150. I would be much happier with how I look if I weighed 130, so that's what I'm shooting for. It's not all about how I look - it's about overall health and performance, too.

I'm a cyclist and a runner. I'm signed up for a half marathon in April. There's a duathlon coming up, too. Also, a sprint triathlon I'd like to try. Exercise is not my problem. Food is.

I've been doing Saturday morning boot camps for the last 3 months and not much else during the week. The boot camp is an intense workout, but alone it's not enough to keep my weight where I want it. I need to watch my food. So here I am! I'm also back to running 3x a week and riding my indoor trainer on my not-running days. On my running days, I also swim laps. I like to do yoga and weight training at home, too.

Thanks for being here. See you around.
