My friend is going on a date and thinks she'll be made fun off if she uses a fork to eat her pizza. I think it won't be an issue.

What do you all think? Is it wrong to eat pizza with a fork?

If you NEED to use a fork, it's not pizza, it's pizza-reminiscint

I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten pizza with a fork and knife. Although if I had to, I guess I would. But what reason would I have too?

It seems like it would be better to start with your hands because you can always fork with it later.

If you are desperate for pizza and you microwave a mini pizza and it's all soggy but you don't care...use a knife and fork...otherwise it might fall apart when you pick it up, and will probably drip burning hot sauce and cheese on you, at very least onto your white shirt and stain it

    ...yep...I've been that desperate

It's not wrong, but it's weird (if it's a "real" pizza) not a microwaved monstrosity

    Not at all weird.

Might be considered weird in some cultures in some contexts among people of some social classes. Seems kind of unimportant.

I use a fork for the first few bites if the pizza is loaded with toppings. It’s easier than dropping toppings onto my shirt when the crust tip droops.

I use a fork for pizza when I go to Pizza Hut because I have salad on the plate with it, so if Im using a fork for the other things on my plate then makes sense to use it for the pizza too.

I'd eat Chicago stuffed pizza with a fork if I absolutely had to eat that pile of garbage.

Sometimes you (at least, I) downright have to fork it, especially if oven-fresh/too hot to touch.

First instinct would be to pick it up, that said, if its a date I'd be guided by my surroundings. Cloth napkin and white tablecloth, I'm going with the knife and fork

If a proper pizza then I tend to have to use a fork the middle is gooey and thin and doesn't hold particularly well unless you fold the slice, which I don't like doing as I find it doesn't last as long! :)

The only time I use a fork and knife is when I eat a Chicago deep dish pizza.

This is how we eat pizza in Italy, btw.
Folding and biting is ok too but you wouldn't do it in a restaurant here unless it was really low key.

I don't eat my bread with a fork and knife, so there's that. But for me this is something casual, the whole pizza experience is compromised by eating it with a fork and knife.

Thoughts: What do we normally do when the toppings fall off? Fingers or fork or leave them? What kind of crust? I usually dunk my crust in extra sauce. Is it cheese filled crust? So many questions.

First date? With just friends? Maybe make a pact that everyone eats with fork and knife.

If it saves you from walking around with pizza stains on your clothes do it, nothing screams louder than red sauce and greezy stains on your shirt.

This being pizza day in my house, in which I make the pizza, eat the pizza, and wash the dishes, the answer is "No", so it's less work for me.
