Because I like and use the site, and I felt it worth while to support something I like.
Just showing up here supports the site. The ad revenue is based on number of visits/views per page. I can understand not wanting the adds or if you use the extra features.
I use ad/script blockers. its VERY rare I see ads on ANY site.

I would love to throw money at MFP for helping me achieve and maintain my goal weight during the past few years.
I probably should do something about that.
I don't care about any of the premium features. The basic MFP is worth it to me.

Nope. Wrong. The blog ads no longer show.
There are many reasons. You can read about it right here on MFP. Imagine that. You can 1) do a search, since this has been asked 800,000,000 times before, 2) you can just click on the premium link and they list the advantages right there.
Well according to some people on a very recent thread the blog post do still show for premium members and they're pretty mad about it so...0
