If you are already doing this and finding it works for you then keep up the good work!

If this is a plan you are getting ready to start then proceed with caution. It's not necessarily a horrible idea, just make sure you don't cut calories too low, and you may want to phase into the new eating plan at a slower rate if you have not been eating this way already. Breastfeeding is already an added stress on the body. Shocking you system can result in a decrease in supply and energy. Just make sure you take good care of yourself!

I had a friend who attempted to sustain a keto diet while breastfeeding. She struggled to eat enough to keep an adequate milk supply despite drinking more than enough liquids. She found that to bring her milk supply back up she needed to switch to low carb instead of keto and included more greens as well as some fruit.

I personally would talk to a dietitian and a maybe even a lactation consultant rather than a bunch of strangers online.

Hi, I'm breastfeeding and just started keto. My baby is 6 months and I've always had problems with my milk supply due to having a breast reduction and then serious stress over not having enough milk effected my supply too.
So she has had half her daily milk from formula and half breastmilk.
However since starting keto only 4 days ago she's turning bottles away and is only breastfeeding.
It could be coincidence I don't know but we're both very happy
