What? Eat until your bottom line on the food is 0.

Yes - your deficit is built in, you don't have to make it bigger. In fact bigger is not better. Moderate paced weight loss helps you keep more lean muscle mass while losing, helps you stick to yours goal long-term, and helps foster permanent changes.

You can zig-zag your calories if you like. "Bank" some calories during the week, to eat at maintenance on the weekend kind of thing. But the idea is to meet your goal.....on average.

  • Ok thanks very much

Yes, or averaged out over the week
  • So if my intake is 1490 for example I need to try and get all those calories down to zero per day ? And thanks

MFP gives you a calorie goal based on the info you put in. If it gave you a goal of 1490 calories, then eat 1490 cals every day. If you exercise, MFP assumes you will log your exercise and eat back at least some of those cals.

So you eat 1490 every day, plus extra if you workout.

You can carry over unused calories from one day to the next, or save a few calories during the week for the weekend, but all those cals should eventually get eaten.
  • Ok slowly getting the hang of this , thanks very much x
