I start a 2 week vacation with no real plans ... just being out of the office is cause for celebration!

I'm not Canadian, but live about 2 miles from the Lynden crossing in WA. I see Blaine (another crossing town near by) has a convenient street fair Drayton Harbor Days to lure you guys down here.

Golf, ATVing, and my Dads birthday party.
Im also hoping to watch some football with the boys. The CFL is a lot more fun to watch than the NFL.0 -
Just hoping to relax a bit. I moved at the end of June and it feels like all of July has been spent unpacking. The weather isn't looking like it is going to be too great here so probably just curling up with a book or a movie (it feels like it has been a long time since we have had any down time!)0

going to america
Just curious. Is this the common reference for you guys if you are coming down here? If not, what other terms do you use? It just struck me when I saw this answer.
When I lived in Alaska we called it the "lower 48".0 -

I hear it a bit though the most common one around here is going to the States.0 -

Pig roast tomorrow at a huge family get together followed by a lazy Sunday and Monday just chilling.0

I haven't made any plans yet. My boyfriend is out of town and my best friend is away on holiday. Normally I'd try to spend some time with them, but since that's not in the cards I'll have to call up some other friends and see what we can figure out. I will definitely be spending some time either working out at the gym or doing something active outdoors.0

I've generally always heard the U.S. referred to as The States. Don't know anyone who calls it America.0 -

We don't get the Monday holiday in NL because on Wed (Aug 7th) we have our local Regatta - closes the city. So we get one, not both.0
