Gained weight but stayed within daily kJ goal

So I’m really confused.... I put myself on my fitness pal and have been really good at logging every single food I’ve eaten on here etc. Before starting my fitness pal I hadn’t really been exercising. Have been logging my fitness pal now for whole week, meant to be losing 800gms a week and instead I gained 800gms! I don’t understand, I was only over my goal kJ’s twice and only ever so slightly but have also been exercising this week. Can anyone shed some light on this? P.S- I haven’t used my ‘fitness’ kjs either.

Sometimes the body is slow to show weight loss and weight gain. Just be patient. I'd recommend a full month on the program and then re-evaluate if you aren't satisfied with your results.3

800 grams is about 1.5 Lbs...well within the realm of normal body weight fluctuations. Body weight fluctuates naturally with water retention/release, more/less waste in your system, etc. If you just started exercise, your muscles will hold onto water as well.4

:flowerforyou: Patience. Weight loss takes time. It's only been a week.
:flowerforyou: Weight fluctuates. It's normal even during weight loss.
:flowerforyou: New exercise typically causes water retention for muscle repair. This can mask fat loss on the scale and even show as a slight gain. It's only temporary.
For example: My weight since Jan 8th
