Banking calories

My doctor has me consuming only 1600 cal a day I have been banking them Meaning that I have been saving them for the end of the day for dinner now don’t get me wrong I do eat very little during the day making sure whatever I do consume is very low-calorie how bad is this for me

You can spread out your daily calories however you wish. Overall calorie intake is what matters for weight loss, not when you eat.3

You can even bank them from day to day, eating less one day and more the next. You want the whole week to average out to 1600/day; it doesn’t matter when you actually eat them.3

I usually bank some of mine for the weekend - it gives me a little freedom to enjoy a special treat but still stay in weight loss mode.1

I eat lightly during the day so I can eat more in the evenings. I also eat lighter during the week to eat more on weekends. As long as you don't cut too hard or long, it's fine. I have found, however long, hard banking can lead to bingeing and/or weight loss, especially when I am unsure how many calories I will burn on a weekend hike.0

This is intermittent fasting and its very good for you, actually. This type of intermittent fasting is called OMAD or One Meal A Day. There are tons of benefits to this way of eating. It does mean though, that you can't have anything else ... ie "eating very little during the day" to get these benefits.3

I bank all my exercise and some of my food calories for the weekend where I will have a treat meal on Saturday and a couple of glasses of wine Saturday and Sunday - seems to be working out ok so far3

There's nothing wrong with saving your calories for that one meal, do what works for you. The main thing is being able to consistently eat at 1600 per day. If you are eating all those 1600 cals then that wont be bad for you.0

It's all about finding what works for you, if saving most of your calories for later in the day is what helps you stick to your calorie goals, then go for it!2

I can't do this, but if it works for you, then go for it. I have to spread mine out throughout the day or I eat WAY too much at dinner. I'd just say make sure that the calories you are consuming have all the nutrients you need and you'd probably be okay.0
