I have been looking into intermittent fasting. Has anyone tried it. I have second thought only because people say that it slows down your metabolism. Is that true. I have a very slow metabolism and can't afford having it slow down any more. I need advise on how to boost the metabolism. Any feedback on this would be great

No, none of the magical claims related to IF carry much weight in the real world. You don't really boost your metabolism... for the most part, it is what it is. Building muscle can help, but that's a long, slow process and doesn't typically make a night and day type of difference.

If you're looking to burn more calories throughout the day, you can do so by being more active. This doesn't necessarily mean exercise (though exercise is usually the best bang for you buck) - simply parking further from work/school/mall/grocery store, taking the stairs vs elevator, etc etc can have a meaningful impact over time.

Lots of questions about IF these days. There is so much poor and flat out wrong information about it both positive and negative.
No it doesn't slow your metabolism.
It's a schedule of eating that allows some people to maintain a calorie deficit over the long term. Its not magic, nor is it starvation. It's also an eating schedule that can make things very simple for some people by fitting their daily schedule. I'm in maintenance and love IF because I just worry about lunch and dinner, both of which are nice and filling.

^^ This. IF is not some magical potion that will ramp up your metabolism, but it's much easier to plan to eat 2 solid meals rather than 3 or 4 or 5 or 6

IF is simply a meal-timing option. It won't inherently affect your weight loss, overall calories are all that really matter.

You can eat 10 meals a day, 3 meals a day, 1 meal a day right before bed, anything in-between - whatever the heck you want. Find a schedule that works for you.

Why do you have a slow metabolism?
