Treating yourself with intermediate rewards?

So I lost 20 lbs about a year ago, and one of the things that really ended up helping me was purchasing new clothes about half way through the process. I originally wanted to hold out until I got to my goal weight, but finally gave in when I realized it would take time. And it was amazing how motivating it was, to wear new, cute clothes mid-way through the journey. I never would have suspected it would encourage me to keep at it. Does this work for others?

I bought some clothes because I like to wear clothes that fit no matter my weight. I didn't really think of it as a reward. It certainly felt better than wearing something baggy though. Feeling better is encouraging I guess. :)

Yes. I have decided to award myself swimming items. I started mfp on new years eve. I lost 17 pounds in January so I bought a new swimsuit.

For feburary, it will hopefully be a set of short fins if I can find some I like. I already bought the fin socks. ;)

I've lost 20 pounds so far and bought myself several new clothing items. I've also been getting rid of old fat clothes when they become too big. I would say these things have really made a difference in enjoying this weight loss journey.

Yep, recently bought some sweatpants a couple of days ago because my others were getting loose.

What @Lounmoun said. I bought new clothes because I've always liked clothes and want them to fit.

I thought about doing something to reward myself while/after losing 80 lbs, but nothing ever comes close to the feeling of satisfaction of having achieved what I set out to do.
