Is there a way to link my diary and workout calories burned to Fitbit? I know I can sync the fitbit calories into MFP, but is it possible the other way around?

When linked, only the MFP meal slot Calories and nutrition information summaries will be transferred to Fitbit.

Exercises entered in MFP will not be transferred individually. Ensure start time and duration entered in MFP are correct, so that the Calories burned are correctly accounted for during syncing. Edited: individual exercises *will* be transferred.

I would recommend reading through the first three posts in this thread on the MFP Fitbit Users group...

Thanks for the link. I found the Apps menu and linked MFP to Fitbit I assume, only the food diary. But nothing happened.

Any exercises previously entered in MFP (earlier in the day) will not be transferred. As long as it is the same day, delete the MFP exercise, then re-enter it, it should trigger the action. I am not sure about deleting/re-entering on previous days - I never tried that.

Ok, then maybe something will happen tomorrow as I log here.

When you link, only that day's information and going forward get synced. MFP and Fitbit data only go back to the first day you linked.

Ok, then today's data should have arrived at fitbit.. somewhere. But they didn't

If it is still before midnight your time, delete an item from a meal and re-enter it. If that works, repeat for each meal slot if the whole day did not sync.

If it is now past midnight your time, the syncing should work going forward.

I just logged my breakfast in MFP, and it still hasn't synched to fitbit.

I would recommend opening a Case with Customer Support on the MFP Help/FAQ pages...

I think I've got it now. It's just the question whether things I don't want to sync get synced, like calorie adjustment and workouts from Fitbit to MFP

In order to keep the Fitbit linked to MFP and not transfer the daily Fitbit Calorie adjustment to MFP, you will have to purchase MFP Premium to turn off adding Calories to your daily MFP Calorie Goal.

I have found that both the Fitbit Charge HR model I had previously and the Fitbit Charge 2 model I have now have provided very good estimates of my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). I lost weight eating back 90% to 100% of my Fitbit Calorie adjustment, even when I have gotten over 1000 Fitbit Calorie adjustments above MFP Sedentary when I have taken over 10,000 steps.

I have trusted my Fitbit Calorie adjustment. I have no medical conditions, but I also meticulously log my Calorie Intake in MFP (weigh all solids, use measuring cups and spoons for all liquids with Calories, log all licks, bites, tastes, treats, etc., verify all MFP food items with Nutrition Facts labels or online web sources such as USDA National Nutrient Database).

Oh, ok. That's not good. Then I'll unlink it again. I don't really need this but I thought it might be nice to have. Thanks a lot.

I don't trust the FB calorie adjustment as it gives me about 2300kcal over my maintenance per week. And really, FB has given me an adjustment of 250kcal for doing the dishes, putting the bed linnen in the washing machine and putting new linnen on the bed. And that's with custom maxHR settings :s

2300 Cals over one week equates to about 330 Cals per day adjustment above your estimated maintenance. That does seem a little high. Do you wear the Fitbit all day, every day? What model is it?

Are you logging all Calorie Intake as accurately as you can? Can you plan to eat back only 50% of the Fitbit Calorie adjustment?

I am 56, 5'8" 153 lbs at maintenance and am now set at MFP Active, which gives me 2400 Cals per day goal - my Fitbit daily Calorie goal is 2430 Cals.

In the last 30 days, my Fitbit averages are 7000 Steps per day, 2500 Cals average TDEE per day. My MFP 30 day average Calorie Intake was 2360 Cals per day. In those 30 days, I have lost 0.7 lbs, which is not too far off from an estimated loss of 1.0 lbs over those 30 days.

By the way, my Diary is public. Feel free to browse it.

I have a charge2. Fitbits can't deal with people who have a high maxHR. My maxHR is around 205 (I'm nearly 44), and while I've adjusted it in FB I still get massive calorie burns for just doing the dishes. And yes, I wear it constantly.
